Orange commissioners want cars removed from road right-of-way

By MARGARET TOAL

A Vidor salvage yard dealer who handles junked cars needs to remove three of them from the county right-of-way or the county will have them towed, Orange County Commissioners Court agreed Monday.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Beamon Minton, who represents the Vidor area, said Bobby Vincent still needs to remove the vehicles from Simmons Road by FM 105 north of Vidor. Commissioners Court voted in December to file misdemeanor charges and seek possible civil court relief against Vincent for violating the county's salvage yard regulations.

Commissioners Court developed the new regulations in 2008 after complaints from people living near salvage yards and junkyards.

County Judge Carl Thibodeaux said Monday that Vincent had asked to speak to commissioners about the decision to file charges against him. However, he did not appear at the Monday session.

"There's not anything we can do for Mr. Vincent," Thibodeaux said.

The case against Vincent now is in the county attorney's office and will go through proper channels, he said.
